Day 2 - Just as windy as Day 1

Final word count for today: 8,745. I am out of control. But tomorrow promises to be much more tepid as I have several more difficult topics to cover. Won't be as fun to write, that's for sure. As with yesterday, my characters continue to surprise me. Today, or yesterday, it's all been a blur, I wrote about Julie's best friend, Lily. Lily doesn't have a last name yet. Or she may, but they are locked away in my notebook right now, and I am too lazy/tired/done with writing to be bothered to go around and find it. I've decided that my first posts will be mainly character development posts, then I will reveal plot details. But everything is a twist right now. Everything is surprising and new, and I am just having fun and riding the wave of creativity my imagination has made for me. So, Reader, enjoy: The morning passed with little to report. I tamed the beast masquerading as hair that resided on top of my head, got dressed and headed out the door t...

Whirlwind Day One

What an experience, Reader! I am currently sitting at 4, 791 words, and I am itching to continue. But I need to hold back. I have finished my first two chapters, and things have already started to change. I didn't plan very much, but I am already diverting from the plan. My characters are taking on a life of their own. But when the words started flowing out of me, like Coor's Light from a tall boy, they came out in first person. Basically, it feels like my characters and my novel are taking on a life of their own, and they have chosen me to be the vessel through which their message is delivered. Kidding. It's not that intense. But they have taken on a life of their own. I want to include my entire first chapter, and the entire second chapter for that matter, but it is fa...

Three hours from now...

...a shitster will be throwing a shoe at another shitster Reader, the moment is upon us. I would like to make my last post before the month of writing starts to be on the most exciting topic: Writing Snacks. I went grocery shopping this afternoon to get the snacks, and here they are, in order of importance: Silver Bullets (Tall boy cans!) Chocolate covered pretzels Sour gummy worms Spicy roasted chickpeas Gummy dinosaurs M & M peanuts Trail mix Also, I will be listening to Jack's Mannequin "Everything in Transit" and Bright Eyes "I'm Wide Awake, It's Morning" during my writing session tonight. It feels like it fits the tone of my novel. And I will have Jack's Mannequin lyrics as quotes at the beginning of each of my chapters. And in that spirit, Reader, I leave you with this nugget, from my anthem for NaNoWriMo : "I wake up to find it's another four-aspirin morning and I dive in..." - Jack's Mannequin, I'm Ready Ready,...
