A Long Overdue Excerpt

Sorry for being so absent on the blogs this year! I hope you will accept this excerpt as an apology. I can't put it in too much context to not ruin any plot twists and turns, but Emma has an important date and has enlisted the help of two very interesting makeup artists. I smiled at her as I walked quickly up the stairs to my bedroom. Two makeup artists were there waiting for me. They were dressed in exactly the way one might expect a makeup artist to dress: crazily. They were fraternal twins, Emilio and Emilia. Luckily, I had worked with them before, or I might have been very off put by their appearance. Emilio was dressed as Emilio Estevez from The Breakfast Club , in a white beater, jeans, a blue hoodie, topped with a blue leather varsity jacket. Emilia was dressed as Emilio Estevez from The Mighty Ducks. She wore a Mighty Ducks hockey uniform, and from the smell of her, she was wearing full hockey equipment underneath. On her feet, she had the much coveted Air Bombay loafer....

(21) Days of Summer - 51, 107 and I'm done!

I finished my novel yesterday at 6:03 PM! I had so much fun writing it, but I am also very, very happy to be done. Now I can catch up on everyone's blogs, and I will try to post a few choice excerpts. Best of luck to all my fellow NaNoWriMo-ers!

Day 7 - 14, 062 Words

I got a lot of writing done today in the "media pods" in the hotel lobby. Most of it has been hilarious, and fun,and my plot is moving along nicely. Emma has been working at the bakery for a few days when a very interesting customer comes into the bakery. It's a long excerpt, but its worth it. (FYI Alejandro is the love interest) I was flipping through the cupcake section of the recipe book when I heard the bell ring, indicating we had a customer. I took a quick glance over my shoulder and saw that Alejandro was busy. He turned, and nodded, letting me know that I could handle it myself.             I moved quickly out of the kitchen, and put a smile on my face. It was a young mother with her three year old daughter. The mother was tall, and pale, with lanky, mousy brown hair. She was wearing a homespun grey sweater paired with DILF by Dawson Bleery brand khakis, which probably looked great on her husband. They did her no favours. ...

Day 5 - 8,995 words so underground you can't even read them

I had a lot of fun writing today, added a lot of stuff that is totally irrelevant to the plot (mainly about hipsters) and a few things that are relevant to the plot. Emma is having her first day at the bakery, learning a few basics from Eduardo Encarnacion (including Martha Stewart's cookie-of-the-day) and then a couple of interesting people walk in. Enjoy!              While he was teaching me how to use the espresso machine and coffee maker, a pair of men walked in. Leading the twosome was a man with a beard, thick rimmed black glasses, an unbuttoned American flag shirt exposing what could only be ironic chest hairs, wearing black shorts that were just a little bit too short, paired with ironic crocs, and he had finished the look off with an empty Budweiser can. Second was a man with rolled up pants held up by suspenders and no shoes, a dirty grey long sleeved V neck T shirt emblazoned with “Pitchfork 2010”, dark thick rimmed...

Day 4 - 6,387 Words and Still Going Strong

Image
My first blog! Sorry it has taken me so long. I wrote on Friday, a boring 1800 words of all set up and no plot. I took Saturday and Sunday off, and decided to catch up today by writing 3 days worth. It has been much more interesting today, with minor plot advancements! Yay! But still, not that much has happened. I plan on writing a couple thousand more words today, and hopefully something more interesting will happen. Here is an excerpt that a few people might find interesting. By the way, I know the picture has nothing to do with the content of this blog post, but it makes me So. Damn. Happy. They are endlessly adorable! With regard to my excerpt, Emma (who has still yet to be named in the novel at this point) is sitting in a police station, eavesdropping on a particularly interesting conversation. Enjoy! One officer in particular was regaling a colleague with stories from a wedding he had attended the previous night. It had been held at the local Knights of Columbus Hall, and ...
