Scrap Mental, Olga, and More!
I am finally done reading all the novels from last year's NaNoWriMo.
First up: Rogue Intelligence.
Riveting. I hung on every word, and was totally surprised by the ending. I loved the writing style, and thought it was really really well done. Thoroughly impressed. As I was reading, I loved learning more and more about these characters. There was so much mystery surrounding them. And so much betrayal! It must be hard to be a spy. It reminded me a lot of Alias, and other spy-like things. I thought all the little tricks were so neat, and it really seemed like you did a lot of research! Overall: loved this book! I was shocked and appalled, and it left me wanting more. I can't wait for this year's offering.
Second to bat: Can You Hear the Drums, Fernando?
Hilarious. I can't say that I loved it as much as Scott did. But I can't really say that anyone loved it as much as Scott did. I believe he squealed ( I actually have to do an in person imitation of his exact reaction). Again, really well written, with a great sense of humour. I thought it was well-timed, although a little rushed. But the rushing felt right, because Olga was rushed in her travels. And it was really cute. I really felt like I was traveling along with Olga, you really have a gift for description of scenery. Overall: I'm heading out right now to get a (permanent) Emilio Estevez tatoo. Quack, quack, quack Mr. Ducksworth.
To summarize, I loved all the books you guys wrote last year. They were amazing, and I'm not just saying that because I'm your sister. I think you are all amazingly gifted writers, and I loved every minute of reading these books, if a little disturbed at the generous use of sex in each. I'm looking at you Jill. Just kidding. But in all honesty, I am now both more excited and more terrified than ever. I am excited to get started. But I am terrified that I won't live up to the Esmonde standard. We'll find out in 22 days!

Fear not you can always live up to the Reaume name ;)
ReplyDeleteThanks, Sammy! I really enjoyed writing my book, and glad you liked reading it. In my Magna Carta from last year, one thing I wrote about was how much I like characters who keep surprising you. Like in Alias - when you are never really quite sure where the characters' loyalties lie. So I tried to work that into my book. It was a challenge for me because it's probably clear that Seth was my favorite character, and I made her pretty sympathetic. But I also wanted to make her the villain. My friend Cris read it and said she was really sad about how Seth turned out.
ReplyDeleteI agree! I was so sad at the end of the book. I really loved Seth and was SO surprised.
ReplyDeleteHahaha about the tattoo. Maybe we all should get it. Thanks so much for the compliments! And sadly, my book was rushed, because I got bored of Olga traveling without Fernando. I wanted to bring him in ASAP. And Scott, which part did you squeal in?
ReplyDeleteThe part where you referenced my book! And Annie's conference :)
ReplyDeleteScott, ew.
