Lessons Learned So Far...

I've learned many things since starting NaNoWriMo two days ago. And I have decided to share my knowledge with my faithful Readers.

1. Snacks are the most important part of writing. So far I have determined which snacks make for good writing, and which are terrible.
- Banana chips are bad. It was my nmisguided attempt to have something more healthy than, say, normal chips. But they don't hit the spot.
- Coor's Light is essential for getting creative juices flowing. As is Crystal Light, Tangerine Grapefruit flavour. Yum.
- M & M Peanuts get a thumbs up.
- Party mix is good news. Variety is key.
- Trail mix is a no go. For many reasons. While I love a good trail mix, it is not suited to consumption while typing at a computer. All those small sunflower seeds, not to mention those pesky peanut skins can get caught in your keyboard. And, the creative brain needs instant energy, such as the energy found in pure sugar. Healthy foods should be avoided at all costs

2. I prefer writing at night. Even though I am doing nothing during the day, I prefer to spend my daytime reading and planning (a little, but I'm mostly not planning), and spend the night time hours writing.

3. My brain is a creative genius, that was waiting to be unleashed for all these years! I feel that I have spent my whole life training for this, by reading books and talking about them with people. What I liked, what I didn't like, what I thought was interesting. All preparation for NaNoWriMo.

4. Lists are the best thing that ever happened to NaNoWriMo blogs.

Hope my list was helpful for you. Most importantly, don't make the same snacking mistakes that I did.

Comments

  1. I actually prefer to write at work so that I don't have to drag my laptop home. At work, snackskies are at a minimum. At home, I've been sticking with peanut m&m's, pretzel sticks, and chocolate chai. yum.

  2. I think I learned the lesson about the trail mix last year. I really screwed up Sam, I should have told you sooner. Sorry, man. Well, it doesn't seem to have impeded your progress at all.
