Like the colour purple, macaroni and cheese, ruby red slippers and a bunch of trees

I am woefully behind, having taken the entire weekend off. But, I have already written 2000 words today, and if I write 3000 more I can be back on track.

I was really struggling for words, and decided to include all of the lyrics to "Summer Girls" by LFO. I will not post them all here, since my blog is not good enough for such lyrical genius, but the title of this posting will give you a teaser.

Mark is heading back to Winigo. In fact, he boarded a plane, rented a car and is currently driving there. I will post a short exerpt, with a longer one to follow this evening once I have reached my word count quota!

When Mark was listening to "summer girls", he could see the classy and classic video in his mind. His favourite part was the brief clip in which Rich mimes spinning a disc on Brizz’s shoulder, then it switches to Brad holding up a rather hungry looking girl, gesturing towards her sweater to make sure that everybody knows exactly what is meant by Abercrombie and Fitch. But the video, as much as it was entertaining, was also very disturbing. Mark got the distinct impression that Brizz was in fact a vampire. Not a Vampyre, but a run of the mill mosquito vampire. Maybe it was the pale, shiny skin that seems to never have seen the sun, maybe it was the disturbing manner in which he wore his facial hair, maybe it was his penchant for wearing fedoras and capes in his free time, or perhaps it was a combination of all of the above. Mark hoped that that poor young women had survived that summer.

  1. Loved every minute of this posting. I especially love how you managed to find out the names of the other two members of LFO. No one has ever cared that much before.

  3. Well done with the write-a-thon, Sam! This is fabulous. I haven't seen the video yet, but I feel that I have because your description was so perfect.
I'm concerned for Mark that he knows all the names to the band members...

  4. Wait, everyone! If you recall, all of the names of the members of LFO appeared at one point in my novel!

Sam, I think that Brizz left the band before they got big. I will not stand for these inaccuracies!!!!!

  5. I think the Esmonde's may single-handedly spark an LFO reunion tour based on our repeated googling of the song lyrics and viewing of the video. What a terrible outcome that would be. Great work at incorporating LFO into a horror novel, that is exactly where they belong.

  6. UH oh, Katie's starting a smackdown in the comments section of Sam's blog! WHEN DID BRIZZ LEAVE THE BAND??????

Jackie, I'm just wondering if you have heard this song yet or watched the video, or do you just recognize the horror? Because I am still holding off on giving it a listen... scared of what will happen.

  7. Brizz did leave in 1999, to be replaced by Devin Lima. I just thought Brizz was too good of a name to pass up...I'll correct it if anyone ever wants to publish...
