Bad Weather Leads to Good Ideas
I am excited to say that the weather at the cottage this weekend has been very conducive to noveling ideas. I have the skeleton of my plot pretty much complete, and all the is left is filling in the details. I don't want to reveal too much, but it will be a story of love, friendship, change, and choice. It's also wholly unoriginal, and pretty meaningless, but it will be funny - and more importantly fun to write.
My main character will arrive in a small town, with no memory of her previous life, and no knowledge of who she is. She will have to make up a name for herself, and she will choose Emma Baker. She will be taken in by a friendly family (the Stones) who owns a bakery ('Batter Up' or 'Sugar, Spice and Everything Nice' - am open to ideas), and work there with the son, Rob Stone. She will be funny, and awkward, and more than a little clumsy. Needless to say hilarity, and a budding romance, will ensue.
Eventually, her old life will catch up with her, and she will have to choose between her old life and her new one.
Can't wait to get started!

That sounds like it will be really fun to read! It also reminds me of Heather's book from last year, with the baking and the falling in love. I look forward to uncovering Emma's past!
ReplyDeleteWell my novel was pretty heartwarming so it's hard to blame you. I jest, I'm sure yours will be much different and probably less bizarre.
ReplyDeleteAlso, I must say, your new blog background is really pretty!
I vote for 'Batter Up' for what it's worth. Perhaps someone with a failed baseball career went into baking instead.
ReplyDeleteI fully support Jill's suggestion re: "Batter Up". Although in that case, I would suggest that the bakery family's name should be "Encarnacion."
ReplyDeleteThat could be really funny... like, people coming in to make fun of him once they learn his identity, or the signature baked good is "E5"
ReplyDeleteI was thinking that Edwin could be the youngest brother of five, therefore his nickname has always been E5. And I can DEFINITELY work in some E5 signature baked good...So many excellent ideas.
ReplyDeleteWow, your plot already worked out! That is amazing. I can't wait to read this. I also vote for 'Batter Up'!
ReplyDeleteYou, too, update please!!
