T-Minus 24 Hours

I am tired of thinking about my novel.  I am tired of planning for my novel.  I am tired of waiting to start writing my novel. The time is almost upon us, fellow writers, for action.  And snacks. Suit up, NaNoWriMo-ers, it's almost time.

One Week To Go

Here we go again!  I can't believe that NaNoWriMo is almost upon us.  It seems like I just finished my first effort moments ago.  But it's been almost a year since I typed the last words of "The Reluctant Bride". Wow. I guess it's time to start planning. So far I don't have much. Mostly disconnected thoughts about various plot ideas - not sure how those might come together. There are a lot of differences between this year and last year. I I plan on writing in third person, I am going to try put a fair bit of planning into this novel - or at least try to be less "fly by the seat of my pants" than last year, and my main character is going to be male. I am really excited to get started.  I am already contemplating which snacks will make it to our spread for that first night.  It almost goes without saying that my drink of choice is the silver bullet - one should never attempt to write a horror novel without at least a few. Until next time, faithfu...

A new journey begins

I am excited about my sophomore effort. I am terrified about my sophomore effort.  Not only will I have to evade the notorious "sophomore suck", but I have decided to take a giant leap into the horror genre.  At least that is what I am planning to do - we'll see what actually happens. I have thought about this quite a bit actually, wondering if I can actually manage.  On Sunday, I finally decided to take a huge risk, and just do it.  And now I am writing it on my blog - making a public commitment to tackle the horror genre. In preparation for novel writing, I plan on reading "It" by Stephen King. In fact, I will be going to the library today to pick up a copy. Hopefully this will inspire me more than intimidate me - will keep you updated as to which. I have already read "It" twice, but each time a read a novel it is like the first time.  This is the joy and curse of having a terrible memory. Until next time, faithful readers!
